When conducting a licensing review of Cook County Wilderness Outpatient on September 20, 2018, the Minnesota Department of Human Services found 14 areas that were out of compliance with rules that govern a substance use disorder treatment center and issued correction orders.
Most of the violations were found in record keeping. An example is “The license holder’s service initiation policy did not include the titles of all staff members authorized to initiate services for clients.”
Corrective actions ordered by the state give the county 30 days to fix the violations. On January 18 Cook County Public Health and Human Service director Alison McIntyre said the violations were cleared.
Regarding the Department of Human Services Licensing Audit of the Wilderness Outpatient Treatment Program, “our office received notice on January 10, 2019 that the Licensing Division had received the final portion of our response to the correction order and that the required submissions to evidence corrections were found to be compliant with applicable Minnesota Statutes and/or Rules,” said McIntyre.
McIntyre said she wanted to “express my gratitude and appreciation,” for Greg Barnier, who heads up the Wilderness Outpatient Treatment Program, “for his ability to keep up with the complex licensing requirements and many changes under way in the world of substance use disorders and the service that he provides to Cook County residents in coordination with PHHS.”
