The Downtown Business Coalition, a subcommittee of the Cook County Chamber of Commerce, has a reminder for local shoppers.
This holiday season, remember the seven ways we can build a better place to live and work by shopping locally:
1. We keep money in the local economy.
2. We create local jobs.
3. We save gas, a win for the environment.
4. We nurture our community by supporting local businesses who donate to the significant events and nonprofits that make us unique.
5. We conserve our tax dollars because our sale taxes are reinvested in the community.
6. We invest in the family/ individually-owned local businesses that helped make this the “coolest” and “best small town” place to live.
7. We attract new neighbors, visitors, and guests to our wonderful area making this a “must see and experience” destination.
Save the date: The North Shore Holiday begins November 25 in downtown Grand Marais with a Christmas parade, the lighting of the tree in Harbor Park, fireworks, and shopping. Your friends and neighbors will be there and you should be there too.
