Last week’s paper featured a letter to the editor which made claims that I’d respectfully disagree with. First, I’d like to compliment the many Democrats and their mainstream media surrogates for their proficiency at name-calling. It’s interesting that the writer refers to the president as “fascist in the making” while the real fascists, supporting the former vice-president are looting, rioting, burning down buildings, taking over cities, and silencing anyone with opposing opinions – the very basis of fascism- while hiding behind the misnamed moniker of Antifa or antifascist. And I find it very unlikely that police unions representing over 900 thousand officers would back a fascist.
It is also tiring to hear that the president lost the popular vote. So what? We vote as a Republic for the very good reason of limiting the power of a more centralized government and, as John Adams stated, (the government shouldn’t be lead) “by the tyranny of the majority.” But to simplify it in as few words as possible I’ll quote George Friedman as written in the Huffington Post in November of 2017: (a Republic) “compels all candidates to pay serious attention to under populated states.” Can you spell Minnesota? Would anyone in this state want to be subjected to the laws/ taxes of California or New York?
Policy, in my humble opinion, is as important as personality. Some might claim that Trump’s personality is overbearing. Okay. But some might say that Biden’s personality is non-existent. Although, he’s been known to borrow one from others. (Google Biden/plagiarism)
The writer states that the Republican Party doesn’t represent Americans on most issues. One issue most Americans want is liberty and the freedom to choose. But many high-profile Dems don’t seem to like choices at all.
When President Obama presented his health care plan, there were no options for low cost catastrophic plans, some plans forced people to pay for things they didn’t want or need, and some were forced to leave their preferred doctors.
During the primary process – reported by ABC News – candidates Warren, Booker, Gillibrand, Sanders, and Harris – that’s Kamala Harris – signed on as co-sponsors of Sanders’ Medicare for all Plan while admitting it would be the first step to a single payer system. Once again, no choice.
In December of 2019, in an interview with MSNBC, Biden declared if elected president, ‘charter schools are gone’. Parents would have no options. Is he afraid the children might learn something new?
Sadly, one choice many Dems strongly support, results in the ghoulish remains found in dumpsters behind Planned Parenthood facilities.
Then there’s the claim that “I.D. laws are meant to disenfranchise” voters. With that logic, I guess airlines want to disenfranchise passengers, doctors and hospitals want to deprive patients of healthcare, and political conventions don’t want attendees.
No. Voter I.D. laws are meant to keep folks like Cody from voting. The Chicago Sun Times reported on July 11 of this year that Cody received a registration card in the mail. Unfortunately, Cody had been dead for 12 years and, when alive, he was a cat. Now in Chicago, it might not be uncommon for Dems to encourage dead cats to vote, but even in my circle of Democrat friends that would be going over the line.
Respectfully submitted without anger or animus. Ronald Wizykoski, Hovland
