In the article about “Couple protects one-half mile of Lake Superior shoreline,” top-center paragraph: “Biologists believe it’s a relic from a previous ice age.”
The plant would be a relict, not a relic. See a dictionary. The source of the error is not obvious from the article. It might have been contained in a news release, spoken by Pat Collins and misunderstood by an interviewer, or altered by your computer word processor. I point it out in the interest of not destroying our language.
