Jon at Buck’s Hardware Hank has this week’s report:

Brule Lake walleyes were abundant last week as people were using leeches and crawlers in 12 to 20 feet on jigs and floating jigs. A slow troll was also useful with live rigs and even Rapalas.

Smallies were hitting in 8 to 15 feet with crawlers or spinners. Beetle spins and Mepps lures worked as well. Cascade Lake walleyes were active toward evening in 6 to 12 feet using leeches and a slip bobber or floating jigs off the bottom. The northerns were hitting with sucker minnows in 4 to 10 feet.

Spoons worked for some on a slow troll. If you head up to Crocodile Lake, I understand the action was pretty good. Leeches and ’crawlers were the baits of choice. In terms of lake trout, Kemo Lake gave up some nice eaters in the four- to five-pound range using gold spoons tipped with ciscoes in 35 to 45 feet off the bottom. Sag lakers were also hitting in the 55- to 65-foot range though I didn’t get if the fish were suspended or off the bottom. I guess you’ll have to find that out.

Rainbows in Leo Lake were doing fine in 12 to 15 feet with ’crawlers and Trestle Pine also fared pretty well in the same depth and the splake were here too.

Tyson at the Beaver House says… Walleye fishing action is good on Devil Track in the evening using a slip bobber and Beaver Flicks and float rigs with leech. Also good fishing in the evening on Elbow and Crescent, Seagull and Sag lakes.

Rainbow trout have been good on Mink and Kimball lakes on a ’crawler, Beaver Flicks and floated off the bottom. Smallmouth bass are biting good all over. Brook trout are hitting on all area streams on single hook spinners and Beaver Flicks.

Lake trout are hitting in Lake Superior in 50-60 feet suspended. And a few salmon are being caught. Lake trout and coho salmon on Lake Superior started to bite with the surface water temp around 50 degrees. Also try casting off the river mouths with Little Cleos and Rooster Tails.

White fish are hitting small mayflies on Devil Track in the evening, so get out and give it a try.
