Where are the fish biting?

Tyson at the Beaver House reports that rainbow trout are being caught on cowbells with a crawler harness on Trout Lake. Walleyes are biting good on Devil Track.

The Pinks are in the rivers — Temperance and Cascade. A chinook was seen in the Temperance River.

Jerry Skarupa of Secret Lures reports that lake trout in Lake Superior are still deep: 120 to 140 feet, surface water temp. from 48-50 degrees. Lake trout are biting good.

Jon at Buck’s Hardware Hank says fishing’s slowed a little bit this week as people are getting ready for the bird hunting season. Walleyes are being caught, however. Over in Homer Lake they are in the 15- to 22-foot range jigging with a minnow. Some are having success with crawler harnesses.

In Devilfish the bite is in the evening off the islands in 18 to 25 feet or so. Up at McFarland Lake, try a jig and crawler in 12 to 18 feet. Pike is reporting good action as well.

Check out the perch as some have picked up a few nice ones recently. Trout fishing slowed a little but the lakers in Sag are hitting in about 65 feet of water; fish are suspended at 35 feet or so.

Trout Lake’s rainbows are hitting in 25 feet or so with a crawler. Lakers were down deeper, but catchable jigging with spoons.
