Where are the fish biting?

Brad and Darlene Ludlow had a great weekend of fishing with Mike Berg of Seagull Creek Fishing Camp on July 29-30, earning spots on the fishing camp’s “Hawg Board.” Above: Darlene Ludlow caught the first big fish on Friday, July 29, this beautiful 29-inch walleye. Brad said, “It is by far the biggest fish that Dar has ever caught and her first master angler walleye.” Left: Not to be outdone, Brad Ludlow caught another monster walleye the next day, this 30-inch beauty.

Tyson at the Beaver House says northerns on Northern Light, Two Island, Elbow and Devil Track lakes and bass are biting well.

Rainbow trout are biting on Mink, and nice size ones on Trout lake. Walleyes are biting on Devil Track in the evenings on leeches, slip bobber and Beaver Flicks. Also Elbow, Two Island, Brule, East Twin and Aspen lakes.

On Lake Superior the bite is hot for salmon and lake trout. Trout and salmon are being caught casting off shore with Little Cleos, white, or pink Rooster Tails, and Castmasters.

“Great fishing out on the Big Lake,” Tyson said.

Jon at Buck’s Hardware Hank reports that lakers and salmon are hitting in the big lake. “I hear some are trolling 20 feet deep in 40 feet of water. But I’m sure the charters are fishing all kinds of depths,” he said. Jon added that one might have a bit of luck casting from shore for some salmon at the mouths of rivers right now. “Definitely worth a shot!” he said.
