The fish reports from local anglers have been pretty good since opener, on just about every lure and bait imaginable.
Tyson at the Beaver House said walleye are biting on Lichen, Crescent and Brule lakes, while Jon at Buck’s Hardware heard good walleye reports on Elbow, Two Island, Devil Track and Caribou lakes. Jon added that they are hitting fairly shallow, from 3 – 10 feet, and are being caught by both jigging and slow trolling. He said to check out the rock piles and weed lines.
Lake trout are being caught by trolling shallow with spoons, said Jon, who has heard success stories on Seagull, Sag, Loon and Daniels lakes. Tyson also said trolling was the way to go on Duncan, North and South lakes, with Sutton and Krocodile spoons. He said lake trout are also being caught on Kemo Lake and at the mouth of the Cascade and Baptism Rivers. On the Big Lake, they are hitting very deep.
Brook trout are biting in several streams, brown trout have been caught on the lower Brule River with a Beaver Flick and crawler and rainbow have been caught in Trestle Pine.
Both Jon and Tyson have heard of nice northerns being caught on Northern Light, Elbow, Pike, and Devil Track lakes. Splake are biting on Mink and Trestle Pine on Kamlooper spoons.
And for some fun fishing, perch have been active in Elbow on Beaver Flicks and minnows.
Good luck everyone!
