Where are the fish biting?

Fish report for week of March 23 from Jon at Buck’s:

We are getting near the end of the season (except for the border lakes which stays open for a couple of weeks in April) so you better get out there while you can. There’s been some action around at Saganaga. Around the islands you might want to try shallower, 9 to 15 feet was a depth that was successful for a few fishermen. Small spoons and jigs tipped with a minnow.

Some walleye action in 24 to 33 feet using jigs and minnows was being had in the flats. Greenwood Lake reported lakers in 45 to 50 feet with spoons and minnows. Also

Trout Lake had some action in 30 to 38 feet. Although I didn’t get any confirmation

I might try a little shallower as well, 12 to 18 feet or so, plus you might hook into a rainbow or two. Mink and Kimball are still good ol’ standbys in the

8 to 14 foot range using ice jigs and waxies. ***

Tyson at Holiday reports that on March 19, night of the “Super Moon,” lake trout were biting good in all area lakes including Gunflint, Greenwood, Sag and Trout.
