Jon at Buck’s has filed this report for the week of Feb. 28: Walleye fishing tailed off a little but if you’re heading to Saganaga I’d still fish deep, 45 to 60 feet of water with a jig and minnow. Seagull Lake is also reporting a few walleyes in the 30- to 45-foot range. Jig and minnow is the way to go. You might find some luck at Hungry Jack for a few walleyes as well.

Clearwater Lake was a bit slow but some trout were caught in the 50-foot range using spoons and large jigs tipped with a minnow. Mayhew reports some action in 35 to 45 feet. Jigging Rapalas and spoons were being used here. You can also check out West Bearskin Lake for some action. Try at 50 to 60 feet with jigs and minnows.

Rainbow and splake action tailed off a bit this weekend but some action was being had at Kimball Lake and Mink Lake at about 12 to 17 feet. Ice jigs and waxies or little spoons and waxies should put you onto a few fish. Good ol’ Leo Lake is giving up both rainbows and a few splake in about 18 to 23 feet. I also hear that Musquash is giving up a few splake in 18 to 26 feet of water. People were using ice jigs and waxies here.

Tim Quaife of Holiday says Sag has been doing very well on the Canadian side in 55 feet of water with lake trout in the 1 ½ to 2-pound range. Tim said other reports have been very slow because of the low temperatures we have been experiencing. “We need a few weeks of steady weather to get the bite back on,” he said.

At Super America, Craig Schulte said there has been slow fishing due to low pressure. On North Lake a few small fish were being caught; water was pushing down the hole. Craig also said Trout Lake was slow with a few lake trout being caught.
