Jon at Buck’s has this to report: I was speaking with Mike Berg of Seagull Creek Outfitters and he mentioned that the walleyes on Sag have started to pick up. They were fairly deep, in the 50- to 60-foot range, but they killed them with jigs and minnows. Good eaters. Also the lake trout were abundant in 40 to 55 feet.
Lake trout in Greenwood have been a bit spotty but success was being found in 60 feet of water or so. Jig or spoon tipped with a minnow is the way to go. There were some also in 40 feet or so and everything was near bottom.
Daniels was showing success in 40 to 55 feet using jig and minnow or jigging Rap with a minnow head. Trout Lake had fish in the 35 to 40 foot range or so; Poplar Lake reports a few lakers being caught fairly deep, about 45 to 55 feet; Mink is reporting rainbows and splake in 12 to 22 feet; and Bogus Lake reported good splake action in 15 to 20 feet of water.
At Super America, Craig Schulte said Gunflint and Clearwater lakes are reporting slow lake trout fishing. Kimball and Mink lakes are seeing steady splake action.
