Where are the fish biting?

Windy weather has kept some fishermen off the lakes, but those who managed to find calm waters had some success.

Bill at the Beaver House reported that the walleye bite has been “spotty.” Jon at Buck’s Hardware has heard the same report. Bill suggested fishing on Ball Club and Devil Track. He said fishermen are catching small fish, but good eaters. Jon suggests Seagull Lake in 30 – 35 feet of water with a jig and minnow, but added some have been caught in 15 – 22 feet of water. Hungry Jack is another lake to try at around 25 feet or so in the flats. Jon also suggests trying a slow troll or drift with a minnow on Homer in 20 – 30 feet of water with a jig and minnow. Just watch for the rocks on Homer!

Jon reports that rainbow trout are hitting on crawlers in Esther, Leo, Trestle Pine, and Trout Lakes, 18 – 26 feet off the bottom. Jon says to try trolling a spinner in the 13 – 18 foot range. Bill said Mink Lake has also been giving up some rainbows.
