Where are the fish biting?

According to Buck’s Hardware, walleyes are biting on Hungry Jack Lake in 20 feet of water, drifting leeches or minnows; on Brule Lake in 25 feet of water using jig and minnows during the day; on McFarland Lake in 15 feet of water drifting leech rigs; and on Elbow Lake in 8 to 10 feet of water using jig and minnow.

Anglers visiting Buck’s Hardware report that lake trout are being caught on West Bearskin Lake in 40 feet of

water using jig and frozen ciscoes;

in Daniels Lake in 50 feet of water

using jig and minnow suspended in 40 feet and in Gunflint Lake at 55 feet of water using jig and frozen ciscoes.

Tyson at the Beaver House has heard that walleyes are biting on Two Island and Pine. He said his daughters caught a couple of nice little walleyes on Devil Track Lake.

The Beaver House has heard that lake trout are biting on Saganaga by trolling in 40 to 60 feet of water and on Greenwood Lake, trolling with downriggers and Laker Taker spoons in 50 feet of water.

Rainbow trout are still being caught on Kimball and Mink Lake, and a few anglers have found them in Lake Superior.

Bass are biting on Two Island and perch can be found at Elbow Lake. Elbow is also a good spot for northern pike.

Salmon are starting to hit on Lake Superior in front of Grand Marais with water in the 53-degree range.
