Where are the fish biting?

Scott Sorensen of Fly Box & Company reports, “Pinks are in!”

He said sinking patterns are working well, along with egg patterns, Woolly Buggers and Egg Sucking Leeches. Early morning hours are best when fresh fish slip in at Cascade, Devil Track Brule rivers.

Rainbow trout are being caught in Thompson, Mink, Kimball and Trout lakes using leech and minnow streamer patterns.

Forrest at Hungry Jack Lodge said walleye fishing has been good. One group last Saturday caught a limit of walleye trolling night crawlers with spinners, working an area back and forth in the evening hours.

Smallmouth bass are still being caught on raps, night crawlers and artificial baits.

Captain Jerry Skarupa of Secret Lures reports lake trout are at various depths from 90 feet and up to the surface. The few salmon that are around are scattered. Water temps have been in the 60s.
