Tyson at the Beaver House said walleyes are biting good on Devil Track on chartreuse or pink Beaver Flicks at 8-18 feet deep in the evenings. Fishing has been good on Crescent Lake with a leech and slip bobber. Also Elbow, East Twin, Poplar, Ball Club, Brule (in the BWCA) and Two Island Lake are doing well.
A 7-pound northern was caught on Devil Track Lake as well as a limit of walleye. Walleye are also biting well on Hungry Jack, Poplar, Flour and Bearskin lakes.
Smallmouth bass are biting great on Hungry Jack, Devil Track, Two Island and Poplar Lake and most other lakes on the surface with torpedoes, artificial crawfish and Beaver Flicks.
Little Cleos, Krocodile and Rooster Tails are working well to catch lake trout in the mouth of Cascade and Poplar River.
Out in Lake Superior nice lake trout are being caught next to shore and out farther on the Big Lake, coho salmon are being caught.
Brook trout and rainbows are seeing action in the streams on flies, Beaver Flicks, Mepp’s Spinners or plain hooks with a crawler. On Mink, Kimball and Trout lakes, 16-to 18-inch rainbows are biting great off shore or in a boat using artificial lures and Beaver Flicks. Brookies are biting in the streams like Kadunce, Temperance and Brule rivers.
Forrest at Hungry Jack reports that an angler recently caught two walleyes—one 22 inch; one 24 inch— off the bottom using just a leech, hook and sinker. Groups have been coming in with some nice walleyes in the evening hours.
The smallmouth bass bite has been good on artificial baits and leeches with fish ranging from 20-21 inches.
Limits of 13- to 16- inch rainbow trout are being caught in Leo using a small spinner or by floating a night crawler off the bottom.
