Where are the fish biting?

Bruce Zimpel caught this 26-inch rainbow trout on March 19, 2010 while river fishing on Lake Superior’s North Shore (exact location not disclosed!).

The fish report is scant this week, with most fishermen electing not to venture out on quickly thinning ice. However, John at Buck’s Hardware in Grand Marais said anglers at the river mouths of Lake Superior are having some success catching steelhead, using spawn bags or orange spoons.

If you are still fishing be sure to use extreme caution as the ice thins. Ice conditions can change drastically from one day to the next.
