Where are the fish biting?

The annual Big Fish Contest is under way!

Participants need a Fisherman’s Picnic button and must register their fish by noon on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Buck’s Hardware Hank; prizes will be awarded on Aug. 2.

Capt. Jerry Skarupa of Secret Lures Charters reports that temperatures on Lake Superior have cooled, and lake trout are down in 150 to 170 feet of water. There are only a handful of salmon around, Skarupa said.
