Where are the fish biting?

Buck’s Hardware Hank provides this week’s update:

I’ve been hearing the walleye fishing has become a bit more difficult this past week with the best times into the evening. Some of the success stories I’ve heard about include the wily Devil Track Lake as well as the prop-eating Two Island Lake. Most are still using minnows for live bait but there has been an increase in leeches moving out the door so I suspect there’s been some success off the leeches as well.

Cascade and Elbow lakes are starting to pick up, so it might be worth a jaunt there. It is spring and the bite should be fairly decent for awhile at whatever lake you decide to hit.

Lake trout have been spotted at a few of the watering holes mid-trail. I’ve been told that Windigo and Trail Center have been lousy with trout after business hours, hitting on anything that comes their way. Northerns are bustling out there. Pickling patrons of the pickerel should have no problems finding plenty to pack their pantry, so warm up those canners. The hammerhandles are in full swing. Try using sucker minnows or spoons. Plus, there’s nothing like the good old red and white Daredevle (no, that’s not a misspelling) to turn on the northerns.

Rivers are still delivering steelies and loopers. Flow and temperatures seemed to hit it right and the water is clearer.
