Where are the fish biting?

Here’s this week’s report from Buck’s Hardware Hank:

This will be the last report for awhile as winter is getting ready to take over the area. I’m sure there will be some fishing going on for a little while yet as I’m getting word the lakes are starting to turn over.

The walleye bite should start to improve in the next few days and the trout lakes are going fairly well right now. So grab your cold weather gear and get out there one last time before the snow flies and the lakes freeze over. Soon enough we’ll be ice fishing out there.

The leaves are steadily falling and the grouse should start to be easier to see from the roads. I’m still receiving decent reports from people getting birds, though I still hear disgruntled reports from disgruntled hunters about there not being any birds to shoot.

What do fishing guides do on their day off? Go fishing of course! Joe Carlson of Joe’s Inland Guide Service caught this nice 25.5-inch walleye on October 10. Carlson said it was a wonderful fall day. He also caught “lots of eaters” and a few northern pike.
