Lake Saganaga has been the place to go this week, offering both lake trout—in 55 feet of water using ciscoes—and walleye in 20- 25 feet of water using jig and chubs.
Anglers stopping by Buck’s Hardware say that lake trout are also biting on Gunflint Lake in 30 – 40 feet of water using ciscoes; in Clearwater Lake in 35 feet using ciscoes; and Greenwood Lake in 60 feet of water suspended at 45 feet using ciscoes and jigs and chubs.
However, fishermen at Mike’s Holiday report that fishing for lake trout is slow. Those that are biting have been caught in 40 – 45 feet of water using whole ciscoes, jigs and minnows and artificial lures.
Waxies have been the bait of choice for brook trout on Carrot Lake. They’ve been biting in 18 feet of water. Musquash splake have been found in 12 – 15 feet of water with waxies. And Kimball Lake has given up some rainbow trout in 15 feet of water with waxies also.
