The latest report from Buck’s Hardware Hank:

Despite the heat, the fishing is still pretty good. Walleye action seems to be in the 12- to 18-foot range in the rocks and along weed edges with night crawlers and leeches being the baits of choice. Some lakes with decent action include Hungry Jack, Poplar, the Twin Lakes, Two Island, Cascade, and Brule.

On Lake Superior lakers are being found around 200 feet or so with salmon being fished at 125 feet or less. Action is still pretty good out there. Of course some are going much deeper for the lakers.

Rainbows are being had in Trout, Leo, Ram and Mink lakes. Most are using crawlers for live bait. Brookies in the streams of course, but also a few lakes like Shoe, Carrot, Vale, and Gadwell if you’re in for a hike. So, good luck everybody and try to stay cool for the next week or so.

Capt. Jerry Skarupa of Secret Lures says salmon are still around in the top 50-foot range. Surface temperature is in the 55-degree range.

There are very few lake trout along the shore. Big lake trout are out a few miles.
