Where are the fish biting?

Capt. Jerry Skarupa of Secret Lures says the salmon are still around in the top 50-foot range. Lake trout are in scattered depths and close to the top. Water temperature is around 55 degrees.

Forrest at Hungry Jack Lake on the Gunflint Trail reports that fishing continues to be good at Hungry Jack, with the bass biting in the day and walleye in the evening. He said a really nice 11-pound walleye was caught and released this week, during the day, which is not typical. However, he said it was sunny and there was little wind. The lucky angler was fishing with a leech.

Dante, the chef at Devil Track Landing, said fishing has been good on Devil Track Lake. He said the people renting boats from the resort have returned with their limits and with some good fish stories. He has also enjoyed cooking some of the fish!
