Captain Jerry Skarupa of Secret Lures says Lake Superior water surface temps are fragile depending on the wind.
There are a few salmon in scattered depths. Lake trout are close to the bottom from 150-80 feet.
The weekly report from Buck’s Hardware Hank:
Word on walleyes is they still haven’t gone way deep, however after this mid-week heat spell the fish may head down looking for cooler water. Keep an eye on the water temperature out there.
There were some good reports out of Seagull Lake this week, walleyes in the 12-18 or 20-foot range trolling the flats. Of course one can always use a slip bobber and leech or night crawler. Some other lakes with walleye action included Gunflint, Sag, Two Island and even Devil Track.
Smallies seem to be hitting on all cylinders. Hungry Jack, Poplar, Devilfish are givin’ em up, not to say everywhere else there’s smallmouth.
There’s also some trout action on Duncan and Daniels in 25-30 feet with the fish suspended. Loon Lake was productive, though perhaps a little deeper. Trout Lake started going with some smaller lake trout but the rainbows were also hitting.
