Jon at Buck’s Hardware Hank has this fishing update…

Welcome to my last report until the ice fishing season gets under way.

The final moose count, for us anyway, was 20 moose taken. With that taken care of why don’t we get to the nittygritty.

Some walleye action was found in Homer and Lichen lakes and people were fishing pretty deep with jigs and minnows. Most were down from 14 to 20 feet. Devilfish Lake had walleyes in 18 to 25 feet with minnows. For a little brookie action one could head to Carrot Lake and fish from 10 to 16 feet with crawlers.

Katie Peck of Schroeder, 7, hefts a lovely 9-pound lake trout, one of the many lake trout she landed by herself while fishing with her dad, Captain Darren Peck aboard Tofte Charters on Sunday, September 23.

If you’re in the mood for some nice brookie eaters, you know those 10-12 inchers, paddle out on Loft Lake and see what’s swimming around there.

Short but sweet. I’ll be back when there’s some ice on the lakes.
