What the Republican Party used to stand for

I’m writing in response to Mary Petz’s editorial of October 10, 2020, in which she sets out the lofty ideals of the Republican Party that bear no relationship to our current leadership.

I quote from the former GOP Chairman:

“To pledge allegiance to a political party, void of principal or honor, is an empty oath that will not serve country or conscience. Where once we stood together to advocate for responsible governance, individual liberty, equal justice and opportunity for all, today’s GOP platform is nothing more than a vow to support, protect, defend and defer to Donald Trump.”

Unless you have been brainwashed by the heavily propagandizing FOX News (banned from broadcasting in England and Canada), you’ll have noticed that the impeached Donald Trump is ill-equipped for the office of President due to a remarkable history of poor judgments, grifts and cons; therefore I say, it would behoove the no-longer grand GOP to fall back and regroup. Purge yourselves of the old white men dinosaurs on the take and the young sleazoids like Gaetz and Jordan in order to search your ranks for men of integrity, dignity, and rectitude, to uphold the lofty ideals you once represented.

As a former Republican, I sincerely hope the GOP can find its way back to the light. As a US citizen, I would welcome an election choice between two morally and ethically upright political parties.
