As an inhabitant of the Land of Plenty I sing the praises of God along with the writer of Psalm 65:9-10, as quoted on the front page of the monthly Congo Church [First Congregational – United Church of Christ] publication, The Shining Light. How great a God and how grateful we must be for his blessings!
As an inhabitant of the Land of Empty how would I sing the praises of God?
Would it sound like this, paraphrasing Psalm 65? You visit the earth and scorch it, you greatly impoverish it; the river of Despot runs empty of water; you provide the people with famine, for so you have prepared it. You sear its furrows abundantly, burning its ridges, parching it with drought, and blessing its dying!
Does my praise of God depend upon where I live? Is it the same God?
