West End Lifelong Learners (W.E.L.L.) and Seniors Connect West are having a fantastic fall! Our first outing was a bus tour of the Lake Superior South Shore which happened the last week of September. Everyone took amazing photos and we will be sharing them in large digital slide shows over the next few weeks during our 55 & better lunches.
Wednesday continues to be our primary day for active agers programming which includes 10:30 a.m. fitness, 11:30 a.m. lunch, 12:30 p.m. social or classes. General admission is $5 suggested donation.
West End Lifelong Learners (W.E.L.L) is an intergenerational membership club which will launch November 1. Be, join, do, grow, and thrive W.E.L.L. will be a passport club. Members will receive discounts on all community center programs and services. The monthly fee is $12 a month or pay in full for $100 at a $20 savings. This club offers members the benefit of education and training, recreation and leisure, arts and culture, and health and wellness. Members receive a passport to be stamped each time they take part in activities in one of those areas. Collecting stamps earns incentives. Everyone of all ages and abilities may participate in W.E.L.L. and receive a passport!

Our recruitment for pickle ballers is ongoing, sign up today! Pickle ball is a fun sport played on a half sized tennis court. The paddles are like large ping pong paddles and the ball is a whiffle ball. We have an indoor and outdoor court and provide equipment so people can play rain or shine!
On October 31 from 6 – 9 p.m. we are having a Halloween Party and Open House. Kids can trick or treat 6 – 9 p.m. There will be a costume contest all ages at 7 p.m. Movies start after the contest. In the gym Sleepy Hollow will be playing and in our KidZone It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown will be on loop. Admission is a suggested $5 donation, but kids trick or treating can come and go for free between 6 – 9 p.m.
There are activities all through the month at Birch Grove. On the 1st and 3rd Fridays, we offer W.E. Movie and Indoor Fun. Each month on the 2nd Sunday, there is a fun day with card making, scrapbooking/ stamping, social and open gym. You can use our fitness center, KidZone, library, Wi-Fi computer lab, and other amenities during these times. RSVPs are always appreciated and recommended. General admission donations of $5 are appreciated.
We also have an extensive equipment rental and commercial kitchen for community use.
Birch Grove Community Center hours are Mon., Tues., and Thurs. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (closed 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for lunch); Wed., 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. (closed 1 – 2 p.m. for lunch).
