If you live in the township of Lutsen, Tofte, or Schroeder and want to run for a township position, now is your chance.
The cost to file for all townships is $2 and is non-refundable.
Lutsen has a three-year Supervisor position and a two-year Treasurer position on the ballot. The sign-up period to run in Lutsen began December 30 and runs to 5 p.m. January 12, 2023. The last day to withdraw is January 17 at 5 p.m.
Affidavits for candidacy are in the county auditor’s office or Lutsen town office and shall be filed in person with the Lutsen Town Clerk, Samantha Mcquatters-Spangle, 116 Caribou Trail, Lutsen. To schedule a time to file, email Lutsnetownship@gmail.com or call 218-663-7002.
Schroeder
One three-year Schroeder Supervisor position will be on the ballot, as well as a two-year term for Treasurer. The sign-up period in Schroeder starts January 3, the first day a person can file their nomination papers for the open positions on the March 9, 2023, ballot. You can file to run until January 17, 2023, at 5 p.m. The last day for a candidate to withdraw is 5 p.m. January 19, 2023.
Absentee ballots will be available on February 10, 2023. Send written requests to the Town of Schroeder, PO Box 60, Schroeder, Minnesota, 55613.
Tofte follows suit with the other townships in that it has one three-year Supervisor term and a two-year Treasurer term on the ballot. Filing for office will be conducted over two weeks from January 3 to January 17, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The last day a candidate can withdraw is January 20, 2023.
