West End Madness That Never Ends: The Gift That Keeps On Giving

For over a decade the “Birch Grove School” has had its hand out and in the pockets of local towns for financial support. At first it was accepted because it took care of the local children. That has long since changed. People are leaving and child count is down and that is not going to change. Get used to it…

Lately, it supports kids mostly from another county yet it continues to ask for support in the most demanding and sometimes offensive manner from the same three West End towns.

It never has solicited funds from Lake County towns because it knows they are angry their tax dollars have moved with the kids and that money is lost to them. BGS has for years only targeted the same three West End towns because they know they were easy prey.

The same propaganda methods are used year after year on the good people of Cook County in some vain and scattered attempt to convince us that this is still all good and necessary.

Now (pay close attention to this), they have created a “Task Force” to come up with “methods” to find a way around the Minnesota OSA ruling which states it is not legal to give taxpayer funds to Birch Grove School, and have spent months trying to find an acceptable way around it all to keep demanding money. What part of NO don’t they understand?

I guess all of it. A gift that keeps on giving. It is a financial nightmare that never ends.

BGS gets hundreds of thousands of dollars from the state and feds each year. Why are they always out of money? Why do they continue to keep coming up with new ways to always ask for more funding? They now claim to have a “2017 Finance Award” from the Department of Education of Minnesota. How did they do that when they will have to “claim” $60,000 of proceeds in their budget that never really existed? They counted on $20,000 per town again. This time it didn’t work.

You people need to wake up and see what is going on. Fuzzy numbers and sleight of hand and the “new math” is all you are seeing. You are being suckered…again.

I’m not against private schools; I’m not against new ideas. I’m against people who view small town checkbooks as easy targets to further their personal agendas because they think they have “the answer” and “others” should pay for it. They need to be singled out.

These locals should be named and put front and center for the public to be questioned in person and at length. It seems only fitting since they want “your” money. The people who created this mess need to be “brought in front of the law” and held liable.
