The head of the so-called Birch Grove “task force” has gone on WTIP and given a 13-plus minute rambling of a variation of his reality-based view of what no one/everyone wants. His view is one-sided at best.
There are many on the West End who stand firm and disagree with his assessment. His “rambling “ and claims do not represent the total amount of people who are able to vote and have a say…this “nonsense” has gone far enough. The help of the OSA and IRS is needed and they will be summoned. Hopefully they will have interest.
Not so long ago the BGS budget was $370,000 plus. Now it is $515,000 plus. (It’s on their website.)
The child head count hasn’t changed much. What else has changed? BGS spending is out of control.
How can anyone have a budget of a half a million dollars plus own no property, and only have a student head count of fewer than 30 in K-4 elementary and a preschool of under 40? There is something really wrong here and very few people are asking why. That in itself is a shame.
Birch Grove School has been and continues to live beyond its means.
This is a small town system that has gone wild. There is no rational explanation that they can give anyone.
Now, you have a “task force” that has created a new plan to still extract $20,000 from each town plus more funds to take care of Tofte’s building?
How about a new idea. Tighten your belts and live within your means!
They [BGS] got and/or are getting over $400,000 from the state and feds for the 2016/2017 school year. Yet they continue to lobby funds from Cook County towns to care for and educate Lake County kids. It’s time that either the Lake County towns chip in or West End towns say enough!
