The Community Center never looked or smelled so good as it did last Saturday, July 28 when the Grand Marais Garden Club’s annual flower show was held. This year’s theme was “Childhood Memories.” The Master Gardeners were on hand with their “Ask Anything” booth and there was a plant sale/exchange. Staff photot/Brian Larsen
The West End Garden Club Flower Show entertained over 150 visitors during the afternoon event held on Saturday, July 21. Visitors were welcomed to the show by an outdoor display depicting a camping experience and relaxation in the outdoors.
Inside entry to the main exhibit area featured all the flora and fauna one would expect when embracing Birds, Bees and Flowers . . . in the woods.
Club members and local residents exhibited over 65 arrangements, with wild and garden flowers used in each arrangement identified by their common and/or botanical name.
Continuing the education process, two Master Gardeners from the Cook County Extension Service answered questions, offered gardening suggestions and truly enhanced the educational aspect of the show.
