West End 4th of July festivities on track

The West End of the county is once again gearing up for a fun-filled 4th of July. Jessa at the Birch Grove Foundation said the festival at the Tofte Town Hall will feature all the traditional favorites.

There will be the ever-popular water balloon battle and other kids’ games, face painting, and new this year, a climbing wall from Positive Energy of Duluth.

There will once again be great food—fish burgers, brats, pizza, malts, cotton candy— and the beer garden. There will be local crafts by Mary Jane Huggins, Jan Nelson, Cross River Heritage Center, Cheryl Syrett, North Shore Bead Design and more. Bump Blomberg and Friends will provide great live music.

The parade line-up is at 12:30 with the parade starting at 1:00 p.m.

The Birch Grove “Snow in July” raffle drawing, to see who wins the fabulous prize of a snowmobile, ATV, and trailer, will be held at 4:00 p.m.

TheWest End celebration ends with fireworks over Lake Superior at dusk.
