It was most convenient for a last minute, two days before the primary, attack on Ellison who is running for Minnesota attorney general. It reminds me of the successful attack on Franken, which caused the resignation of the most vocal voice in the U.S. Senate. Now another (at least yet) unsubstantiated attack on another loud voice who intends to give up his House seat where he can do little, to run for attorney general where he feels more can be accomplished.
While I agree with the importance of the “Me Too” movement, long overdue, this is just too convenient. I wonder of the motivation of the individual who has remained silent for so long. Why now? It smells like dirty politics to me; if not a lot worse. My hope is that reasonable people will not rush to judgment.
I do strongly support Ellison as someone whose heart is in the right place, and who is not afraid to speak out against injustice. The issues confronting our nation and state at this point are monumental. But if you are Republican or Democratic it’s in your interest to make certain we do not return to the Salem witchcraft form of judgment.
