Every so often a pelican gets blown far off its normal course and it ends up here in Cook County. This perky pelican was spotted on the beach near the East Bay Suites on Lake Superior. Pelicans are found on all of the continents except for Antarctica. They live primarily in warm areas but American white pelicans live as far north as the southernmost portion of Ontario.

This week, weather watcher Josiah Avery debuts a new monthly feature – Weather Events.
He explains: “This is an experimental category numbering how many times we were in advisories, warnings, and so on. Also, I add in how many days I recorded thunderstorms, hail, and other curiosities.”
