David Weible of Champaign, IL shared this wonderful photo of a pair of harlequin ducks. The ducks were passing through on May 12. According to birder Molly Hoffman, these ducks usually show up for a short while in spring and fall. They are uncommon but not rare. Their normal home is Alaska. David spotted them feeding along the Grand Marais harbor breakwater on both sides of the harbor mouth.
