“We will rock you”

 

The Grand Marais Playhouse is excited to announce a community youth musical production, “We Will Rock You.”

Music and lyrics are by QUEEN. The story and script are by Ben Elton.

Young@Part Edition adapted by Marc Tumminelli and originally workshoped at Broadway Workshop in NYC featuring chart-topping Queen songs including “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Killer Queen,” “We Will Rock You,” “Somebody To Love,” “We Are the Champions,” and many more, this 70-minute adaptation of the West End show follows two young rebels as they restore rock ‘n’ roll to “the iPlanet” in a post-apocalyptic world. We Will Rock You Young@ Part® is a musical for our time: a fist-pumping, foot-stomping anthem to individuality.

After School Design Class- Youth interested in designing the show will meet on Tuesday, February 15. Every Tuesday from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m., the class will learn about design for the theater and then create the design and collaboratively build the costumes, set, props, lights, sound, and promotional material for We Will Rock You. This design class is open to youth ages 11-17. The participation fee is $100.

Show auditions and schedule requirements

Auditions for We Will Rock You will be held on April 11 at 3:30 at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. Call Backs are scheduled for April 13& 14 as needed. Auditions are open to ages 11-14. Audition material will be posted on the Playhouse website

Rehearsals will begin April 18 and are held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. These rehearsals will be for learning songs and choreography and creating costumes. Once school is out for summer, the show will be built and rehearsed June 13 – 23 Monday – Thursdays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Performances will be June 24-26 and July 1-3.

The participation fee is $100.

After School Program, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 3:15- 6 p.m.

Summer theater season beginning June 6.
