We have a number of people who live in Cook County who are in their 80s or 90s and who want to be able to get some exercise to keep fit. They would love to be able to walk or hike outdoors like they did when they were younger. A walking track would be wonderful for us.
In a large city, you will see people of all ages walking the mall for exercise before the shops open. There is really no place in Grand Marais where we can do that. If we had a walking track, I am sure that it would get lots of use.
I am glad that the plans for the new community center will use part of the school building. That should save both the school and the community center money.
It makes so much sense for the pool to be at the school. That will save time and money by not having to bus the children to the pool. Although it is a loss for the trailer park, the city still has a beautiful site to offer them.
