Water plan revision begins

Cook County is in the beginning stage of revising its water plan. The intent of the plan is to provide strategies to address the water related issues and problems in Cook County. As the plan is being revised over the next year, it is important to have public input and to ensure there is a clear representation of the community in Cook County.

The water plan recognizes concerns regarding water in the county. The concerns are then prioritized from input and discussions with different groups. The top concerns have goals and actions that are then developed to work toward tackling the concerns. The first part of the public participation process is in the form of a short survey. Data from the surveys will be collected and categorized by the task force responsible for revising the water plan. After input has been gathered from all the entities necessary, and information is compiled, a public meeting will be held as the second part of the public participation process.

The citizen surveys can be found at the North Shore Market in Tofte, Grand Marais Public Library, Hovland Post Office, Clearview General Store in Lutsen, Soil and Water Office and online at: cookswcd.org. Surveys will be collected at the end of November.
