If we are going to go through all the hassle of passing a constitutional amendment, let’s make it worthwhile. The Supreme Court calling the desecration of our flag “free speech” opened the doors to much more damage than just to the flag. When they interpret “free speech” to include action they are twisting the meaning to allow violence.
We should spend our energy in passing an amendment that would rein in the Supreme Court from molding our country to their vision. When our founding fathers protected the Supreme Court from being pressured by not providing a watchdog, they obviously expected them to be objective and honest. When the Constitution was written and for many years the Supreme Court justices did their duty of stopping the other bodies from ignoring the solid base of the Constitution.
Now, however, they act as if their job is to steer the country to a more and more permissive society in some ways, and a more restrictive one in others.
I suggest an amendment that would allow a court decision to be overturned by something less than an amendment. Maybe if the president, a majority of both houses, and a majority of state governors voted to overturn their decision?
Think about it, before they destroy more than they have already!
