In his never ending effort to bash Cook County government and its employees editorialist Garry Gamble made the implausible stretch to compare county government to Ford Motor Company’s marketing and introduction of the Edsel automobile. In an attempt to describe how the car got its name he wrote, “…the car was named after one of the little known Ford family children…”
Well, in fact Mr. Gamble, Edsel Ford was the only child of Henry Ford and his wife Clara Jane Bryant Ford, and became the president of Ford Motor Company from 1919 until his untimely death from stomach cancer in 1943. Hardly one of the little known Ford family children wouldn’t you say? Please try harder to get your facts right.
