Do you have a community garden? Are you a Whole Foods Co-operative? Or a small grocery store looking for a way to grow local food?
There will be three presentations and tours of a portable hydroponic year-round growing system in St. Louis County, Lake County and Cook County. Jon Friesner, builder of the GroShed, will be on-hand with his solar-powered model, to talk about the possibility of your business, group or family building a unit to provide fresh local food year-round.
On Tuesday, October 16, the GroShed will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Duluth Farmers Market location at 14th Ave. E. and 3rd Street in Duluth, MN.
Wednesday, October 17, the GroShed will be parked at the Two Harbors Community Center on 417 South Avenue from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for you to tour and learn more about growing food hydroponically year-round.
If you live in Cook County, the GroShed discussion and tour will take place at the Cook County Community Center in Grand Marais, 317 W. 5th Street, on Thursday, October 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Come join us to learn more about how this growing unit might work for you.
These educational tours are sponsored in part by: UMN Extension NE Sustainable Development Partnership, St. Louis County Extension, Lake County UMN Extension Master Gardeners, Cook County Extension and the Northwoods Food Project.
