The Grand Portage National Monument had a great Rendezvous weekend with approximately 3,800 visitors over the three-day event. The voyageur encampment also had a record number of 142 camps and 300 reenactors. Several canoes traversed the bay. There was a partner’s arrival ceremony and business meeting in the Great Hall. Outside the Great Hall, there was blacksmithing, tinsmithing, shoemaking, and basket weaving. There were fascinating workshops on 18th century clothing, cattail decoy making, haggis making, dyeing, baking, etc.
Visitors also enjoyed another afternoon of great music in the yard from re-enactors and a large crowd enjoyed Cook County’s own storyteller, Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux.
