Two Cook County tourism treasures are in the running for national recognition in USA Today’s special travel section 10Best.com. Papa Charlie’s Tavern and Stage at Lutsen Mountains is in the running for Best Après-Ski Bar and Bearskin Lodge and Wilderness Outfitters is in the running for Best Cross Country Ski Resort.
“We’re excited to see such well-loved local establishments grab attention on the national scene, although Cook County is no stranger to this national contest, with Grand Marais having won ‘Best Midwestern Small Town’ in 2017,” said Linda Jurek, executive director of Visit Cook County. “Visitors and locals alike can count on having a fun time at Papa Charlie’s with great entertainment and spectacular views of Moose Mountain, making it the top spot to unwind after skiing.
“Bearskin Lodge’s inclusion as one of the nation’s major cross-country skiing destinations is no surprise either,” Jurek continued. “Its excellent location along the Gunflint Trail Scenic Byway, combined with on-site outfitting, makes it the perfect place to escape and enjoy the solitude of crunching snow beneath your skis.”
