Volunteers needed for Gunflint Run Sled Dog Race

Despite the unseasonably warm temperatures, planning for the 2017 Gunflint Mail Run Sled Dog Race is under way.

And like any big event, lots of volunteers are needed to help make it successful for the mushers, their dogs, and the fans. With that in mind, this year’s volunteer coordinator Cathy Quinn is looking for some help to fill a wide variety of jobs.

“I have the great honor of acting as the volunteer coordinator for this year’s race,” Quinn said. “I’m reaching out to folks now so that they can mark their calendars well in advance of this year’s Mail Run on January 7 and 8, 2017.”

This year the race will start and finish at Trail Center Lodge and will likely follow the same course as last year’s race. As a result, said Quinn, “Volunteers will be in high demand, and we hope we can count on you to help us pull it off! We would love to hear from you. Consider getting a group of friends, family or co-workers together to help out as a team. You know what they say, the more, the merrier!”

If you would like to help out with this great event, please contact Cathy at quinn@boreal.org.

“Please,” requested Quinn, “reply to this email and then we can begin to figure out how you fit in the Mail Run picture. In the meantime, think snow!”
