This month I would like to thank some volunteer students who donate their time and expertise at the Senior Center.
Volunteer students David Blackburn, Noah Works, and Isaac Terrill have been coming down to the Senior Center to help out with questions about computers, cell phones, and anything our adult population may come up with about their devices. I have heard and seen the wonderful interaction and problem solving that has occurred between these individuals.
There were some who said, well it is such a silly question, and I just don’t feel I should bother them with it. Yes, do, they are so glad to help out! It has been such a benefit to our genealogy participants as well, they learn new ways to research their ancestors; they also find they may need help in maneuvering the web pages to access that information. Thank you Lisa Bauer for arranging this for the Senior Center!
Past month the Senior Center paid out monies for various non-profits/ churches in our community. If you would like to volunteer your time for some groups that are dear to your heart, give the First & Second Thrift Store a call (218-387-1826) to see how you can donate your time to these groups. Last year the payout was $17.50 an hour.
Cook County has a vibrant and active community of elders. Each week we offer Senior News to highlight our senior citizens. This week’s submission is about the Cook County Senior Center, courtesy of Programs and Service Coordinator Kim Nelson.
