Two evenly matched volleyball teams met on September 29 in Moose Lake and the action was non-stop.
The Vikings lost the first game 25-22 but then came back to take the second game 25-23 and game three 25-20. Just when it looked like the Vikings were going to take the match the MLWR Rebels came roaring back to take game four 25-14. With the teams knotted at two wins each the fifth and deciding tie breaker game to 15, winning by two, was held to decide the match.
During that last game the teams traded small leads until MLWR took the win 16-14.
With the loss, the Vikings are now 4-5 on the season and MLWR is now 7-7.
Vikings fall to Floodwood
The Vikings traveled to Floodwood on Tuesday, October 4 to face the Floodwood Polar Bears in a conference match. Floodwood won in three straight games 25-12, 25-9, 25-18.
Freshman Kensie Kiminski led Floodwood with 11 kills, three blocks. Aurumn Tahja had nine kills and Darby Autio six kills.
Cook County didn’t have any stats available following the game.
Cook County is now 3-5 in conference play and 4-6 overall.
Next up for the Vikings is an away game at Mountain Iron-Buhl on Monday, October 10. The next night the Vikings host McGregor at home. Varsity action starts at 6:30 p.m. The Vikings play Lakeview Christian Academy at home on Friday, October 14 and then travel to Ely on Monday, October 17. A final home game will be played on Tuesday, October 18 against North Shore rival Silver Bay. That game starts at 6:30 p.m. Come out and cheer for your Vikings!
