The young Cook County High School varsity volleyball team has inched closer each week to getting a team victory, and this last Thursday, Sept. 19, the team came through with a 3-0 win over North Shore rival Two Harbors.
Playing in front of a packed gym, the Vikings won the first game 25-23, took the second game 25-21 and then capped off the victory by polishing off the Agates 25-14.
Katie Peck led the Vikings with seven kills, eight set assists and two ace serves. Molly LaVigne ended her night with 17 set assists, Paisley Smith finished with five kills and three ace serves and Alyssa Spry had 25 digs.
Bella Rodriguez led Two Harbors with seven digs and Megan Maxey had two blocks to lead the Agates, who came with eight varsity players.

Lace up with Pediatric Cancer!
September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and to help support Minnesota families the Cook County volleyball team is wearing gold shoelaces as well as raising donations to send to those in need. This will be going on Monday, September 30 against North Woods.
Dig Pink!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 1 in 8 women will be affected by breast cancer. One in 3 of all cancer diagnoses in the U.S. are breast cancer in women.
The Cook County volleyball team will be wearing pink for Breast Cancer Awareness during Thursday’s game against Carlton on October 4, as well as raising donations for local breast cancer centers.
Please come out and support the girls and their efforts to raise money for these fun and important events!
