Volleyball team falls to Moose Lake/Willow River in a close match



Every game the young Cook County volleyball team plays they show improvement. That was evident in their most recent match against Double A Moose Lake/Willow River, played September 5 in Moose Lake, where the team narrowly lost.

The Vikings fell 25-19 in the first game, then came back and won the next two games 25-20, 25-15. A bad fourth game saw the Vikings lose big, 25-8, but the last game was exciting, with the Vikings fighting to the end, losing 15-12.

Leading the Vikings were Katie Peck, who finished with 7 kills. Morgan Starkey ended her night with 5 kills and 21 digs. Alyssa Spry had 27 digs and Molly Lavigne 17 set assists.

The Vikings traveled to play South Ridge on Thursday, Sept. 12 and then play Two Harbors at home on Thursday, September 19. Varsity players take the floor at 6:30 p.m. in the Pam Taylor gym. Come out and cheer for your Vikings!
