For the second year in a row, Visit Cook County took home an award for outstanding travel marketing at the annual Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference. This year’s award, a Travel Marketing Award of Merit, honored the summer 2015 “Juxtaposition” campaign.
Last year’s award, the Travel Marketing Award of Excellence, recognized the innovative 2014 transit based awareness campaign, which wrapped Twin Cities bus shelters with evocative scenes from Cook County. “We are honored to be recognized by Explore Minnesota Tourism for the second year in a row for our marketing efforts,” said Linda Kratt, director for Visit Cook County. “We are fortunate to work with great marketing partners, Giant Voices and LIN PR who have done a fantastic job telling the story about what makes Cook County the premier Minnesota travel destination.”
Kratt and Kjersti Vick attended the conference held at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minnesota on February 3. The Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference brings together hundreds of Minnesota tourism partners and helps raise awareness of Minnesota’s continued growth as a travel destination, for both domestic and international visitors. Research by Longwoods International indicates that Explore Minnesota’s spring/ summer 2015 marketing campaign generated 3.2 million trips that would not otherwise have taken place, resulting in $337.4 million in visitor spending and $31.2 million in state and local taxes.
