As it welcomes in the New Year, Visit Cook County also welcomed several new community members to its board of directors.
Joining the board of directors of Visit Cook County is Emily Haussner, Zach Baumann, and Dave Seaton. Visit Cook County Executive Director Linda Kratt expressed appreciation to all who came forward to work with the tourism organization and shared a little bit about the new board members.
Odyssey Resorts Food & Beverage/Guest Service Director Emily Haussner of Caribou Highlands represents the Lutsen Tofte Tourism Association. Haussner was born and raised in Cook County and is a Cook County High School graduate. She loves living in Lutsen as she is just outside of the hustle and bustle of the “Coolest Small Town in America.”
Emily is married to Timmy Haus and has loved raising her five children on the North Shore.
Zach Baumann has lived on the Gunflint Trail since 1989, working at his family’s business, Golden Eagle Lodge. Baumann represents the Gunflint Trail Association and replaces Bruce Kerfoot on the board of directors. Although Baumann manages the resort’s online presence, he said that his real office is the outdoors and an amalgamation of business and outdoor recreation was the end goal of his academic journey. Kratt said Baumann has his bachelor degree in business administration with a marketing emphasis, making for a great addition to the Visit Cook County team.
Visit Cook County also welcomes Dave Seaton of Hungry Jack Outfitters on the Gunflint Trail. Seaton is replacing Bob McCloughan on the board of directors. Hungry Jack Outfitters is a family-run business, which Dave operates with his wife, Nancy, and sons, Ben and Will. Dave also owns Seaton Guitars building custom acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments with woods primarily found in the boreal forest. Seaton feels he gets the best of both worlds – six months at a time. He is a member of a number of organizations and also volunteers at WTIP.
Kratt said, “Thank you to Emily, Zach and Dave for your contributions to Visit Cook County.”
She added, “Visit Cook County would also like to extend a big thank you to Dave Tersteeg, who is our new board chair.”
Grand Marais Parks Manager Tersteeg also has plenty of experience with different organizations including the Active Living Steering Committee, MN Clean Marina Program, and as an on-air personality at WTIP. He is also the president for the Grand Marais Area Tourism Association.
“We are grateful to have him and all of our new board members as we look forward to 2016 and our winter season,” said Kratt.
